An Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Career Scientist, Dr. Catherine Demers is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Division of Cardiology at McMaster University. Her area of interest and expertise includes the management of heart failure in the community, in the primary care setting and the effect of cognitive impairment in elderly heart failure patients. She is currently the Principal Investigator of a cluster of randomized clinical trials evaluating a primary care based model of heart failure management. Dr. Demers also led a pilot clinical trial evaluating the effects of human recombinant growth hormone on functional capacity, cardiac function, and quality of life in patients with advanced heart failure symptoms.
